Cause – What makes something happen
Effect – What happens
Cause and effect analyzes why something happens.

Examples

 1.       Last time, smoking was not common, nowadays, a lot people are taking up smoking.

Cause
-           A lot of free time
-          Surrounded by smokers
-          Advertisements

Effect
-          Death (Cancer)
-          Less time with family
-          Waste of money

Conclusion : Smoking is a bad habit. Many has died from smoking

 2.       Technology is eloping day after day and many problems are associated with overusing some forms of it. Internet is very important to the public.

Cause
-          Free time
-          Convenience
-          Communication
-          Research
-          Trading items

Effect
-          Health problem (eye problem)
-          Wastage of money
-          Ignore studies
-          Anti social

Conclusion : Overusing the internet has got many causes but solvable because of the rage of effects. They should be encouraged to go out more or spend more time with family members.

3.       Declining number of sharks worldwide, though they are the most feared creature in the world. Population has dropped 50% in the last 15 years.

Cause
-          Mistakenly fished by corporations who targets the smaller fishes
-          Sharks do not reproduce quickly
-          Sharks are targeted for their fin soup in Asian countries

Effect
-          Shark is on top of the food chain, the ocean’s ecosystem will not balance if
        their population decreases
-          Asians depend on shark fin’s soup to survive, they will have problems if
        they don’t get it

Conclusion : Change the fishing policy and take steps to protect this predator in order to maintain the balance of the ocean

4.       Hunger is the most extreme form of poverty. Families who are not food secure cannot afford to meet their most basic need for food.

Cause
-          Poverty as poor people do not have the resources needed to buy food on
        a daily basis
-          War distrupts agricultural production and the government often spends
        more on arms
-          Lack of access to education, credit and employment is often the result of
        racial, gender and ethnic discrimination.

Effect
-          High infant mortality rates
-          Vulnerablity to common diseases
-          High risk of infection
-          Impediments to development

Conclusion : Hunger is a persistent condition that can affect generations. The root cause has been identified, be sustainable and they must be implemented by locals for the long term.

5.       Pollution in general causes instability to the eco system.  The common pollution is air, land and water pollution.

(Air)
Cause
-          Human activity by burning all types of fuels
-          Factories and cars let out fumes that pollute the air
-          Natural sources example methane and radon gas from Earth’s crust.

Effect
-          Health risk : Lung diseases
-          Pollutants make it hard for people to breathe
-          Causes acid rain when it rains killing plants and animals.

Conclusion : Various air pollution control technologies and land planning strategies are being carried out.

(Land)
Cause
-          Litter the ground
-          Don’t recycle
-          Use so much of non-recycleable products making it harder to dispose

Effect
-          Animals eat litter : sick
-          Covers the land from sun : plants die.
-          Reduced oxygen levels from decomposition of organic material dumped
        from drains

Conclusion : Stricker laws are taking into place. The offenders would be punished equally.

(Water)
Cause
-          Companies dump toxic waste in rivers/lake
-          Ships spill oil in oceans
-          People throw litter in water

Effect
-          Toxis waste and oil spills cause death to animals and plants
-          Rubbish also eaten by animals causing death

Conclusion : Save water, turn the tap off.
